About This Area
This hike starts at the Hub Coffee Roasters in downtown Reno, follows the Truckee River to Idlewild Park and returns back at the coffee shop totaling about 2 miles. The coffee shop has a nice tea and pastry selection, and two restrooms. There is also a gourmet chocolate store next door that offers chocolate, wine, beer, and ice cream. In the spring/summer months a food truck offers breakfast and brunch too, all at start of this walk with a big lawn outdoor seating and free parking lot along with free street side parking! The stroll along the river is paved, mostly shaded, and flat -any stroller can do it. Idlewild park has a big playground with 3 play structures to accommodate babies to school age advanced playground players. There is a seasonal train ride around the park for a couple bucks too, a shaded picnic area with life size male and female lions to climb on, and a mister for the hottest months to run through like a shower. This hike is easy to access and offers so much.

Hike it Baby Trail Guide is managed by the Family Trail Guide team. If a trail has been “abandoned” by the initial owner, it gets adopted by the team. Also, if there are no trails in the area, the Family Trail Guide team researches trails that are family friendly in the area to insure that hikes cover all areas where Hike it Baby hikes.
