Kettle Moraine State Forest - Lapham Peak Unit

About This Area

[Total: 1    Average: 5/5]

The Kettle Moraine and Lapham Peak were formed 10,000 years ago when a glacier covered much of Wisconsin. Lapham Peak’s glaciated topography provides excellent hiking, backpacking and cross-country skiing on lighted trails. Climb a 45-foot observation tower atop the highest point in Waukesha County (1,233 feet above sea level).

This section of the Kettle Moraine State Forest offers hiking, biking, one backpacking campsite, picnic areas, horseback riding, a nature center and several miles of cross country skiing trails in the winter months.

Some of the highlights of the park are the observation tower, section of the Ice Age National Scenic trail and the beautiful butterfly garden along the Kame Terrace Trail.
