Located less than an hour from Richmond, VA, Powhatan State Park is relatively new to the Virginia State Parks system. There are two campgrounds here, one with electric and water hook-ups, and a primitive, 8 site campground that is only accessible by canoe or a 1/4 mile walk.

Most of the trails at Powhatan State Park are easy, and range in length from half a mile to two miles, and are primarily used by hikers or on horseback. There is a playground and picnic area, as well as weekend ranger programs.
