Upper Macatawa Natural Area

About This Area

[Total: 0    Average: 0/5]

Upper Mac is 612 acres of diverse wildlife habitats, forests, wetlands, and grasslands. A beautiful 3 mile paved path connects the paved paths along Adams St and the Fred Meijer Kenowa Trail along Byron Road.
Besides this, there are a total of 11.5 miles of hiking trails (mostly mowed grass paths), 5.5 miles of mountain biking trails, and 3.3 miles of ungroomed cross country ski trails. This park is dog friendly (on a 10ft or shorter leash).

There are 2 entrances into the park:
– West (1300 84th Ave): this is the entrance for the paved path and for mountain bikers. There are rustic restrooms, 1 pavilion, picnic tables, and a drinking fountain available at this location. This is the entrance you would want to go to for the 2.5 miles of ADA accessible paved path.
– East (2171 76th Ave): this entrance takes you to the dirt trails and mowed paths. While this is a beautiful area to walk, proper footwear is needed, as most of the year the trails are quite wet or even flooded. Rustic restrooms and picnic tables are available at this location.
