Walking Purchase Park

About This Area

Walking Purchase Park is a smaller, lesser-known park nestled in between the southern border of Allentown and Bethlehem and follows along the Lehigh River. It’s amazing how quickly you feel lost in the trees and away from the city on these hilly trails. You can hike in all four seasons, but the summertime allows for wading in the river and splashing in the creek. If you have a little that enjoys trains, you get to hear the screech of the train cars coming down the Lehigh line toward the Lehigh Valley Switchyard, one of the largest in the East. This park is frequented by mountain bikers, so please stay alert when hiking with littles.

Hike it Baby Trail Guide is managed by the Family Trail Guide team. If a trail has been “abandoned” by the initial owner, it gets adopted by the team. Also, if there are no trails in the area, the Family Trail Guide team researches trails that are family friendly in the area to insure that hikes cover all areas where Hike it Baby hikes.
