About This Trail

[Total: 4    Average: 3.5/5]

Tecolote Canyon offers 6.5 miles of mostly-flat groomed trails. It’s mostly out and back but there are many trails that jut off the main trail, some of which loop back to the main trail and others go up the canyon side to the neighborhoods. There is moderate traffic on the trail and on-leash dogs are allowed (doggy bags and trash cans are along the first part of the trail). Keep and ear and eye out for trail runners and mountain bikers. There is a small, but interesting and informative nature center at the trail head along with a replica of an early California Indian complex and live animals. It can get hot in the direct sun during the summer so dress appropriately and bring water. Highly recommend for any hiker—baby-carrying to toddler led to adult-paced hikes.
