Dragonfly Trail
About This Trail
Located in Lake Norman State Park, this is a perfect trail for little legs and strollers. The trail is paved yet surrounded by forest so it’s a perfect introductory trail for toddlers and preschoolers to hike on their own. The trail also features nature displays along the way where kids can learn about the plants and animals that live in the park. The trail is .15 miles round trip, but also gives access to the Alder trail; a .8 mile, unpaved trail that loops around the lake and is suitable for little legs as well. The big plus is it’s paved and short, yet very woodsy, so toddlers can walk easily and it’s very stroller accessible. There are bathrooms close by at the visitors center. There are interactive nature displays that kids can flip up and play with along the trail.

Hike it Baby Trail Guide is managed by the Family Trail Guide team. If a trail has been “abandoned” by the initial owner, it gets adopted by the team. Also, if there are no trails in the area, the Family Trail Guide team researches trails that are family friendly in the area to insure that hikes cover all areas where Hike it Baby hikes.
