About This Trail

[Total: 2    Average: 2.5/5]

Festge County Park is located in the Driftless Area (unglaciated area) of Dane County and offers a scenic view 100 feet above the Black Earth Creek Valley in the Town of Berry — one of the more spectacular views in the county. The park contains 155 acres of beautifully wooded parkland with hiking trails winding through a mature stand of hickory and oak trees. Other features and activities include snowshoeing in the winter, foraging, wildlife viewing, two shelter facilities, play equipment and shaded areas for family picnics. A natural history marker explains the area’s glacial geology. Future plans for Festge County Park include development as a trail link into the Ice Age National Scenic Trail system.

The scenic overlook is a short distance away from Shelter #2 and parking lot and is a must see for families! Park trails offer some gently rolling terrain, established walkers would be fine, but early walkers may fair better in a carrier. There are no designated trails within the park, but it offers 3 predominant loops ranging from 0.5 miles to 0.9 miles, and two scenic view points. Park has approximately 2 miles of trails.
