About This Trail

Holliday Park is an amazingly diverse park only 6 miles north of downtown Indianapolis and easily accessible from surrounding suburbs. The park has 3.5 miles of great trails that intersect each other, a playground with equipment for toddlers and older children, a nature center with regular workshops and kid-friendly center, plus a splash pad/water fountain area that is active in the summer months.

The trails are not locally addressed by definitive names, although a general map may be picked up at the nature center. You can jump on and off trails at various points allowing for shorter or longer distances. HiB Indianapolis has taken several routes, all of which are kid-friendly and dirt-packed and clearly outlined. Some trails feature rock stairs. The branch generally completes a 1.5 mile point-to-point hike starting at the nature center and ending at the playground.

The park is most well known for it’s “ruins,” which are located in the center of the park and feature the splash pad/water fountain. The Ruins are a long-standing symbol of the park. The three large statues on top were originally part of a New York skyscraper built in 1898.

This is an overall great place to spend a whole day. Hike it Baby Indianapolis loves to visit throughout the year to hike the trails, play on the playground, creek stomp (depending on river flow), and splash in the fountain.
