At 483 acres, Indian Lake County Park is one of Dane County’s largest parks.  The main entrance is located on STH 19 about two miles west of USH 12. A winding trail leads to a historic chapel built in 1857, located on a hilltop with a breathtaking view of the lake and surrounding valley. The trail to the chapel can be reached my either of the parking lots from the main entrance of the park. The first parking lot to the left is the smaller one, but has a playground, shelter, restroom and water. You can take a short trail over to where the Chapel trail starts. It’s and in and out trail, with some steeper stairs to the top where the chapel and scenic overlook are. It’s fun to check out the inside of the tiny single room chapel and the small gardens around it.

The other park trail provide access around the entire lake, offering many recreational opportunities including access to a log cabin warming house. The Ice Age Trail runs through the park, and there are miles of trails for a variety of adventures! The park also has an unfenced dog park located adjacent to the small boat launch on the west side of the lake.
