About This Trail

[Total: 5    Average: 2.6/5]

This long, moderate trail leads you through moss-covered forest and features three must-see waterfalls.  The first of the falls is a short 1/8th of a mile from the parking lot. This is Lower Lewis River Falls, a 43-foot cascade that pours into a notorious swimming hole. There are several viewpoints along the trail before it continues 1.5 miles farther to Middle Lewis River Falls. Viewpoints here are limited but what you can see is beautiful. A short side trail will lead you to the smaller Lower Copper Creek Falls. The next falls you will arrive at is Upper Lew River Falls. This is another great spot to take a dip and have some lunch.

If you want to continue the adventure, follow the trail another ¼ mile to Taitnapum Falls before turning around to head back to the parking lot.

Being outside is how I re-charge. It gives me perspective, fills me with gratitude and provides an opportunity to disconnect from the chaos of everyday life. I am fortunate to share this passion with my amazing husband and our son.  I was born and raised in the PNW but I love exploring any area I can get to. One of my favorite things about Hike it Baby is that I have a built in community of friends to provide trail suggestions anywhere we go.

Getting There

From I5, take exit 21 for Woodland/Cougar and head East on Hwy 503 towards Mt. St. Helens. Approximately 23 miles down, continue straight on Spur 503. At 31 miles, Spur 503 becomes Forest Road 90. When you reach the junction with FR25, you’ll turn right to stay on FR90 south. Follow this for another 14 miles until you see the Lower Lewis River Falls Trailhead on your right.
