Margaret Lake
About This Trail
A 6mi round trip hike will take you to a less populated lake than others in the area. Ideal for a younger child in a pack and a caregiver that is able to do some moderate hills. Although we met a very proud 7yo whom made it to the lake on her own *applause* The lake is gorgeous – a trail winds around the lake but the grassy spot you first encounter is perfect for letting your child lounge and has a good entry point to the water. Late August there are wild blueberries and huckleberries along the trail. Check the local online trail guide for a more detailed hike description.

Hike it Baby Trail Guide is managed by the Family Trail Guide team. If a trail has been “abandoned” by the initial owner, it gets adopted by the team. Also, if there are no trails in the area, the Family Trail Guide team researches trails that are family friendly in the area to insure that hikes cover all areas where Hike it Baby hikes.

Getting There
Drive on I-90 to Exit 54, signed for Hyak. Turn north and pass under the freeway, then turn right on the frontage road signed for Gold Creek. This road may be very crowded on weekends.
After a mile on this road, pass the parking area for Gold Crek road and continue straight onto FR 4832. You’re driving east, paralleling the freeway, before the road pitches up. Nearly 4 miles from exiting the freeway, turn left onto FR 4934, and after a quarter mile, the parking area will be on your left. (directions credit: wta.org)
