Mashburn Family Discovery Trail
About This Trail
This trail is great for kiddos! Start at the the Rowe Visitor Center and follow the orange trail markers. You’ll find a nice level path, perfect for little legs and strollers. It features interactive exhibits that teach kids about forests, trees, meadows, ponds, vernal pools and the wildlife within each habitat. Along the way, families can stop and discover a 19th century cabin, a pollinator garden, and a Nature PlayScape. The PlayScape is a fun natural playground–no swings and slides here! You’ll find mud, fort-building, creek-romping, cairn-building, log balancing and more!

Trail highlights
The trail originates right outside the Rowe Visitor Center and main parking lot at Cincinnati Nature Center. If you want to plan a day outing, pack lunches. There are two picnic areas easily found along this path. One is a picnic Shelter, the Krehbiel Pavilion, and the other is a picnic area with picnic tables under some nice shade trees and next to a vernal pool. The Visitor Center provides bathrooms, excellent customer service from Nature Center staff, and a gift shop where some snacks can be purchased.
Fee & Parking Details
$9 adults, $ 6 seniors, $4 children 4-12, free for kids 3 and under, free for members.
You’ll pay admission at the gatehouse–unless you are a member, then it’s free. A family membership for 1 year is $84. Well worth it! Parking is free.

Hike it Baby Trail Guide is managed by the Family Trail Guide team. If a trail has been “abandoned” by the initial owner, it gets adopted by the team. Also, if there are no trails in the area, the Family Trail Guide team researches trails that are family friendly in the area to insure that hikes cover all areas where Hike it Baby hikes.
