Olathe Prairie Center
About This Trail
The Prairie Center is a 300-acre tallgrass preserve and education site with trails winding through remnant and reestablished prairie and riparian woodlands. Just minutes from downtown Olathe, this is a peacefully quiet area with winding trails through rolling hills. The main trails are graveled, but there are side trails which are more like grassy footpaths. Little walkers shouldn’t have much trouble for most of the trails in this park, depending on weather conditions. The place where the trail crosses the stream may be impassable without getting wet – there is no bridge over the water and the concrete could be slippery.
No horses, bicycles or, motorized vehicles are allowed. Pit toilets are available. The Prairie Center is open to the public from dawn to dusk seven days a week for trail walking or for fishing in the lake. As emphasized by the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism, NO PETS ALLOWED ON THE PROPERTY.
Prairie Center is operated by the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism. https://ksoutdoors.com/KDWPT-Info/Locations/Museums-and-Nature-Centers/Olathe-Prairie-Center
