About This Trail

Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve is a unique spot in Hamilton County. From grassy meadows, dirt trails, bridges, picnic areas, even a swamp to explore this is a great place for little ones, including new walkers to explore. The preserve is open year-round.

While there are dedicated trail names, locals do not typically refer to the trails individually. The trails are also relatively short and connect well enough that it isn’t unusual to complete 2+ trails in one trip.

The nature preserve is one of two designated preserve areas in the county. Leave No Trace rules are recommended and enforced. Stick to the trails and do not pick the flowers. Dogs are welcome but only on leash.

Visitors are welcome hike, bird watch, run or explore any time between dawn to dusk.

A sturdy off-road stroller may work on some trails, but do keep in mind that portions have tree roots, small boulders, and mud. The swamp is somewhat ADA accessible as the trail there is a mix of gravel and boardwalk.
