Rome Point Main Trail
About This Trail
A gentle out-and-back trail that is 0.7 miles from the trail head to the water. The main trail down through the John H. Chafee Nature Preserve is wide and mostly flat. Mixed bed of gravel and rocks makes it suitable for walking and some off-road strollers. The trail starts flat and straight for the first 0.4 miles, then goes down hill over the next 0.3 miles towards the water, dropping about 60 feet in elevation.
Mostly shaded along the entire trail to the clearing at the end before smaller paths drop to the rocky beach.
The trail is heavily trafficked year round, more so in the warmer months. When snowy, the trail is quickly packed down. Dogs are allowed, but are required to be on leash at all times.
