Silverwood County Park is located in the Town of Albion on the far southeastern edge of Dane County.  The Park is approximately 300 acres and is a mix of agricultural fields, woodland, and Rice Lake shoreline.   Currently, the  park facilities are under development.  A rustic lake access site has been developed on Sweet Lake and a boat portage has been established to access Rice Lake. A portable toilet is usually available at the parking area off of the Silver Lane entrance. The Friends of Silverwood Park host a variety of events and volunteer projects at the park. The size of the park and recreational amenities offered will expand over time.

Starting at the trail head at the parking lot, head back along the cornfield and take the first left, this will take you to the wooded portion of the trails. One trail meets the woods make another left and follow trail into the woods. There are 3 different scenic overlooks that look out onto Rice Lake, during the summer there isn’t much to see due to tree cover. In the autumn you can get views of the lake. Recommend having a map for trails in wooded section, there are lots of small connecting segments. As you work you way to the very back of the park property, you will come out of the woods near a marshland and more agricultural fields. You might pass remnants of a historic barn near the back of the property as well. From the silo if you head straight back you should be on trail back to parking lot, it may be visible depending on what crops are planted and time of year for growth or harvest.
There are several miles miles of trail at this park and on the other side of the main trail there are loops that go along more agricultural fields and an old quarry on the property. The trails along the cropland might be suitable for an all terrain stroller, but using a carrier is highly recommended.
