Turville Point Conservation Park is a gem located in the City of Madison, on the shores of Lake Monona. It’s located close to downtown Madison and boasts a beautiful view of the Capital. There are 2.3 miles of interconnecting trails at the park which are used for hiking and cross country ski trails in the winter. This is really great when hiking with children, as it gives you the option to “chose your own adventure” or cut it short if there are meltdowns.

The trails are mostly shaded and have gentle rolling terrain. There are a few spots along the trails that have downed trees that made great climbing spots in the early autumn. The park also features a 7 acre prairie clearing near the center of the trails and adds diversity to the scenery. There are 3 “main” trails, the Prairie Loop (Green), the Oak Loop (yellow) and the Lake Loop (Blue) with interconnecting trails without the system. You can see views of both Lake Monona and the Capital building from the park.

Another great feature is Olin Park, which is adjacent to Turville Point. It has a playground, boat launch, beach, restrooms, ball fields and a scenic overlook of Lake Monona. Park has large drive through light display during winter holiday season.
